For anyone sitting IELTS Speaking
Know your Speaking band before the examiner does.
Speak for two minutes. SayBand marks your answer against the four public band descriptors and shows the exact words behind every score. No guessing, no mystery number.
Sample report
Part 2. Describe a place you go to relax.
Well, the place I'd like to talk about is a small park near my, um, near my apartment. I usually go there in the evening, after classes. It's not, it's not very big, but there is a lake and some benches. What I like most is that it's quiet, so I can clear my head. Honestly, I think it's the most peaceful place in the whole city, especially in autumn.
Then hear what a 7, 8 or 9 sounds like.
Pick the band you need. SayBand rewrites your own answer at that level, keeps your ideas, and shows every change it made and which criterion it lifts.

Band 8 version
Moves to steal
Learn the moves, not the script. Examiners spot memorised answers and mark them down, so SayBand drills the moves on new questions until they're yours.
Practising alone gives you no score. Most AI apps give you a score with no reason.
So you walk into the test not knowing if you're a 6 or a 7, and you find out three weeks later. If the number is wrong for your university or visa, that's another booking fee and another month.
"How do I practice when I have no one to practice with?"
r/IELTS"It gave me consistent band score in the range 6-7 which scared me but I got an 8 in the actual test."
r/IELTS, on ChatGPT scores"Cue card felt so naively stupid and simple that my mind went blank."

Every band comes with a receipt.
Examiners don't score a feeling. They score four criteria, each with public descriptors for bands 1 to 9. SayBand checks your answer against the same four, line by line, and quotes you back to yourself.
Two minutes a day, one fix at a time.
Speak
Get a real Part 1, 2 or 3 question with the exam timer. One minute to prepare for the cue card, just like test day.
Get marked
A band for each criterion and an overall estimate, each tied to the descriptor line that decided it.
Level up
See your own answer rewritten at the band you need, then practise the three moves that matter most.

We're opening SayBand to early accounts first. The first 100 get a full Speaking mock, Parts 1 to 3, marked against all four criteria at no cost. Everyone after that still gets in before the public.

Questions
Is this my official IELTS score?
No. Only a certified IELTS examiner gives an official band. SayBand gives an estimate using the same public band descriptors, and it shows its reasoning so you can judge every score yourself.
Can AI really mark speaking?
A bare number from a chatbot, often not. That's why SayBand doesn't hand you a bare number. Fluency is measured from the timing of your audio, pronunciation from the recording, and every band points to the descriptor line and the words of yours that earned it. If a score looks wrong, you can see exactly why it was given.
Should I memorise the band 9 version?
No. Examiners are trained to spot memorised answers, and it lowers your score. Use the rewrite to see which moves make the difference, then practise those moves on fresh questions. SayBand checks whether you actually use them next time.
What do I need?
A phone or laptop with a microphone and a quiet two minutes. Nothing to install.
How much will it cost?
Signing up is free, and the first 100 accounts get a full mock marked free. We'll share the price by email before anyone is asked to pay.
Is SayBand part of IELTS?
No. SayBand is an independent practice tool. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the British Council, IDP or Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
P.S. A retake means another booking fee, often $200 or more, and weeks of waiting. Two minutes a day with SayBand tells you where you stand before you book. The first 100 accounts get a full mock marked free. Reserve yours.
